Join the Anzai family in support of the JCC’s 6th Annual Biathlon on Sunday March 24. We are looking for an OSM team for a swim and bike. We will throw in a complimentary breakfast to complete the morning! Please consider it and contact me if you are interested in joining us to support the JCC..
Nepean Masters hosts a superb long course (50m) meet. Consider competing at: Winterlude: Saturday February 16. Caroline B from Tue/Thur noon is keen to have OSM swimmers join her at the meet. The early bird registration date ends Jan 31 (you can register up to the day before the meet but the fee is more expensive). For those who swam the Willy Lee meet – the sign up is the same (though you have already paid your MSO fee). Here is the link:: https://ms.mastersswimmingontario.ca/web/meets/displayMeet.php?MeetID=974
Saturday mornings begin THIS weekend, Saturday January 19 at 7-8am. Enter by the side door (to right of front doors by the outdoor pool)\. Doors will open at 6:50am. Looking forward to coaching this extra practice! It augments the 2 weekly practices you’ve signed up for as well as the Sunday drop-ins. A great start to your weekend!
Hoping this note finds you well and full of New Year resolutions. It’s a great time to revisit goals and strive to reach in places that challenge you.
At the pool, each practice is designed to make you work, and your fabulous OSM coaches will direct you to places that challenge you. You have to do 2 things:
- Show up!
- Do the work!
Always remember there is never a swim that you will regret. I encourage each one of you to make 3 practices/week in January. (Our extra Saturday practice will start at the end of January, then you will have 4 practices you can make.)
You will enjoy great fitness, feel physically better and feel happy. You have coaches that love to be there and a great set of lanemates who are there for you!
There are 4 practices this week; wed evening, Thur am, noon pm and both Sunday am. I will be back poolside Sunday at CU!
Enjoy the Holiday. Have an OSM 2019!
Thank you for honouring your practice times and not subbing in another time when you miss one. If you need to switch, contact Marie directly. We would like to keep lane dynamics flowing smoothly!
Beginning the end of January, I will be adding an extra (free) OSM practice on Saturday mornings at 7am. A gift from OSM to you! Open to all OSM swimmers. Chat us up on deck with any questions.
Please remember the JCC is a member-based facility. For OSM swimmers who do not have a JCC membership, please refrain from using membership facilities (sauna, whirlpool, gym) before, during or after practice. Those are privileges strictly for members ONLY.
Thank you for your respect and cooperation.
Please take note of the holidays (highlighted) during the holiday season.
A reminder that the last regular practice before the holidays is at the JCC this Sunday December 23. (CU is canceled for the next 2 weeks). Here is a snapshot of the next 2 weeks. A reminder that if you are NOT a member of the JCC, please do not drop into the pool other than OSM practice times during the holidays.
A big shout out to all who swam, baked, volunteered, officiated, danced, donated prizes and contributed to the meet. There were 101 swimmers, 15 clubs and many more smiles – and $4200 was raised. Tom never intended for this meet to be a meet to raise money- instead he wanted everyone to benefit from pushing yourself to race. Its’ easier to do when you know the money is going to a good cause. Put Saturday November 16th, 2019 in your calendar for next year!! Thank you to all who made this year such a success.
A few last minute reminders to all OSM swimmers participating in the meet tomorrow-
- warm-up starts at 12 noon; come early as it gets very busy
- bring $$ for the 50/50 draw and the Silent Auction
- OSM caps will be on deck for sale at $5 each
- bring your water bottles; there is a fill-up station on deck
Good luck to everyone swimming and many thanks to all our OSM volunteers!
Marie, Kenton, Andrea and all your coaching staff
