A haiku is a short poem that follows the syllabic pattern of 5-7-5.
Approaching the wall
Head down, tuck, legs up, over
Success, coach is wet
Sunrise over trees
Remembering why we swim
When light hits water
Take me back, way back
Chlorine kissed hair, no goggles
When life made more sense
(Full credit to Sir Van Morrison)
No place is better
Than the midst of the river
Nowhere to go but home
Sculpted by water
Broad shoulders falling forward
Waiting for the start
